This Blog was born from a wet day in Germany, looking at one of the many war memorials in that country and further investigation which led me to notice a lack of reference material with regards to the German Army in World War One.

My work on this project has been made easier by the World Wide Web, but with the information tools at my disposal it has been a constant battle to ensure that the correct information has been included.

This Blog is intended for reference, and will hopefully enable those with an interest in the German Army of World War One to look up with confidence the various units and organisations which contributed to the German war machine.

This peacetime division was formed in September 1818.

Home Station:  Breslau

21st Infantry Brigade

10th Grenadier Regiment King Friedrich Wilhelm II. (1st Silesian), formed on 21st November 1808, garrisoned in Schweidnitz

38th Füsilier Regiment General Feldmarschall Graf Moltke (Silesian), formed on 26th January 1818, garrisoned in Glatz

22nd Infantry Brigade

11th Grenadier Regiment King Friedrich III. (2. Silesian), formed in 21st November 1808, garrisoned in Breslau 

51st (4th Silesian) Infantry Regiment, formed on 5th May 1860, garrisoned in Breslau

11th Horse Jaeger Regiment

11th Field Artillery Brigade
6th Field Artillery Regiment
42nd Field Artillery Regiment

1st Company of the 6th Pioneer Battalion
