This Blog was born from a wet day in Germany, looking at one of the many war memorials in that country and further investigation which led me to notice a lack of reference material with regards to the German Army in World War One.

My work on this project has been made easier by the World Wide Web, but with the information tools at my disposal it has been a constant battle to ensure that the correct information has been included.

This Blog is intended for reference, and will hopefully enable those with an interest in the German Army of World War One to look up with confidence the various units and organisations which contributed to the German war machine.

This peacetime Army unit was formed in February 1820

Home Station:  Posen

19th Infantry Brigade
Transferred to the 119th Infantry Division as the 237th Infantry Brigade on 25th March 1915.
6th Grenadier Regiment Graf Kleist von Nollendorf (1st West Prussian), formed on 14th October 1772, garrisoned in Posen 

46th Infantry Regiment Graf Kirchbach (1st Lower Silesian), formed on 5th May 1860, garrisoned in Posen

20th Infantry Brigade

47th Infantry Regiment König Ludwig III von Bayern (2nd Lower Silesian), formed on 5th May 1860, garrisoned in Posen

50th (3rd Lower Silesian) Infantry Regiment, formed on 5th May 1860, garrisoned in Rawitch

1st Foot Jaeger Regiment

10th Field Artillery Brigade
20th Field Artillery Regiment
56th Field Artillery Regiment

Also contained the 2nd and 3rd Companies of the 5th Pioneer Battalion
