This Blog was born from a wet day in Germany, looking at one of the many war memorials in that country and further investigation which led me to notice a lack of reference material with regards to the German Army in World War One.

My work on this project has been made easier by the World Wide Web, but with the information tools at my disposal it has been a constant battle to ensure that the correct information has been included.

This Blog is intended for reference, and will hopefully enable those with an interest in the German Army of World War One to look up with confidence the various units and organisations which contributed to the German war machine.

183rd Infantry Division


This Army unit was part of a new wave of divisions formed in June 1916

The 183rd Division was formed in 1916 to support the German war effort.

The Division was disbanded on 16th September 1918.

  183rd Infantry Brigade
On 25th October 1916 the Brigade was disbanded.
  184th Infantry Regiment
From 7th and 8th Division
  183rd Infantry Regiment

  183rd Field Artillery Regiment
  122nd Reserve Infantry Regiment

  
  
  
The Brigade served with the Division until 25th October 1916

33rd Reserve Infantry Brigade
On 27th October 1916 the Brigade came from the 17th Reserve Division.
  184th Infantry Regiment
  418th Infantry Regiment  The Regiment served in the Brigade from the 13th November 1916 until 14th September 1918.  It came from the 192nd Division.
  440th Reserve Infantry Regiment  184th Infantry Regiment
  4th Squadron 10th Hussars
The Brigade served with the Division until 27th September 1918 when it was disbanded.
